Starting a High-Level Piano School in Dubai for talented kids – Advice Welcome!
Hi everyone,
I just came across this platform, what a gold mine!
To introduce myself: I’m a film & TV composer and former concert pianist, originally from Jordan and recently moved to Dubai last August (I lived in 5 other countries prior). It’s been a great move so far, though finding deep friendships (or decent dates) has been "interesting".
I’m reaching out for some advice: I’m considering starting a boutique piano school here. I’ve visited a few schools, and honestly, I was disappointed by the quality of teaching. Very mechanical, uninspiring, and far from what I’d call artistic development.
I never saw myself teaching, but I’m now genuinely passionate about finding talented kids and teaching them the way I was taught, rigorous yet joyful, expressive, and empowering. A kind of piano mentorship, not just rote lessons.
If anyone has tips on setting something like this up, whether home-based, studio-based, or affiliated with an existing institution, I’d love to hear your thoughts or referrals.
