other than its a bit cold, i wouldnt hesitate :) i live here and there is no unrest at all. in fact everyone is pretty happy because they just unblocked facebook and youtube hope this helps

I wouldn't have a problem booking a trip to Syria. I've been twice and it's one of the nicest countries I've ever visited. People first and foremost, closely followed by shopping (especially the souk in Aleppo) and food. If you do go, make sure you visit the cafe behind the main mosque in Damascus, where they have a traditional Arabic story teller in the evening
