Can anyone tell me if the Vietnam Embassy in Dubai is open?

I found this thread which suggests that it is closed?

I have totally flucked up our holiday plans by not realising that DH is not eligible for the Visa On Arrival. We're not scheduled to arrive in Vietnam until 14th March but we leave for Macau on Thursday morning!!!!!!

Needless to say I'm not flavour of the month with DH right now and we're hoping to get this sorted tomorrow (long shot I know) without having to travel to AD.

Please help!!!!!!

Yes include Halong Bay in your itenary! I sent you a mail but forgot to mention this interesting article: http://ngm.nationalgeographic.com/2011/01/largest-cave/jenkins-text and http://news.nationalgeographic.com/news/2009/07/090724-biggest-cave-vietnam/ Just by looking at Halong Bay and the rest of Vietnam it is easy to imagine that the biggest caves in the world are indeed located in this country. Amazing. <em>edited by Singapore Sling on 09/03/2011</em>

We wanted to go to both Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh but DH has arranged some mega Asia trip that only leaves us with 4 days in Vietnam so we will stay in Hanoi and explore from there... I've heard we should head out to Halong Bay for a trip but it's really totally new territory for both of us! We usually rely on concierge for recommendations when we arrive in new places but will happily have recommendations from an expert :) you can mail me if you like on [email protected] but only if you have time... please don't go to any trouble. DH is on his way home with a shiny new visa stamp in his PP - yayyyyyyy!! :D

Thanks SS! We spoke to the Embassy in AD this morning and they advised us that we would have to do the application in advance through them... so have sent DH off with his passport and they have said they can process in one hour :) Thanks for the link... I will go through it later today and def post back if there is anything else we need to know. It's been my dream for years to travel to Vietnam and I'm so excited to get there.... thank you thank you thank you!

VIETNAM VISAS http://www.vietnam-immigration.org/infomation/apply-vietnam-visa-online-getting-vietnam-visa-at-airport.-simple-and.html?Itemid=39 http://www.easyvietnamtravel.com/Vietnam_visa_arrangement.asp All these links will lead you to the same organisaton though. Dh says he is almost 100% sure a UAE national will need to apply via AD :( Please give me a shout of there is anyting else you need to know. Whatever we have questions to, we also look at this site for help (Hanoi). It has listings of services, cafes etc + reviews + google maps attached. It even has an app for your I-phone/I-pad. I can also give you a link to Saigon if interested. Enjoy your holiday. Vietnam is a great travel destination but challenging to live in. http://newhanoian.xemzi.com/ <em>edited by Singapore Sling on 09/03/2011</em>

Thanks SS!! I would really appreciate it if you could find time to post the agent's details tomorrow, it's worth a shot... Hi Mavis, www.vietnam-visa.org are the ones telling us that they can't process for DH, but thanks all the same for taking the time to respond. GRRRR gutted the Dubai Consulate is closed!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (but totally serves me right for not researching thoroughly enough - they don't mention that some nationalities are not eligible though until you really really search :()

Noooo! I will nonetheless send you details of the agent tomorrow, you never know. The consulate is in AD, Dubai closed. DH is currently working in Hanoi and I know early December he had to drive through to AD to take care of the milliard documents for his workvisa.

Thanks Singapore Sling, I had done the online application earlier this week but they have just come back to me today to say that they cannot provide this service for UAE Nationals (ie. DH) :( Sooooo.... any ideas about the consulate in Dubai? TIA :)

You can arrange it all online and they do it within 24 hours. We have done it a couple of times now and the service is very efficient. There is more than one online agent as well, but I will be able to tell you only by tomorrow which one we use. Alternative if you do an EW search you might come up with details of an agent too. YOu will be paying an online fee which is for processing and then at the airport anther fee for the visa itself. Enjoy :)
