Listen up, New Dubai residents - no longer will we need to trek to Festival City to visit IKEA.
That's right, Al-Futtaim has announced that in December of 2019 a new mall will be opened, Festival Plaza - and inside the new destination shall be a brand new IKEA.
The 64,800 square meter mall will include a 500-seat food court, 40 dining and eating options, entertainment for the family and 120 retail outlets including Lulu hypermarket, Ace Hardware, and our favourite, affordable furniture store.

Located in Jebel Ali, just past Ibn Battuta, it will be the new go-to mall for residents living in Marina and the surrounding areas. The mall is a part of Al-Futtaim’s residential area, Wasl Gate.
Timothy Earnest, Group Director of Al-Futtaim Malls, said: “Festival Plaza is built around its customers’ needs, which were identified through extensive research. So, this truly is a mall that directly addresses customer demand.”

The new IKEA is set to be the biggest one so far in Dubai, spreading over 30,000 square meters. Which means it’s time to start redesigning your place and plan a trip to the new Ikea that promises to ’embrace digital integration and allow for a more intuitive shopping experience for its customers’.
