When is the Barbie movie releasing in the UAE 2023?

The blonde and pink fashion doll icon is hitting UAE cinemas very soon!

While the rest of the world were watching the Barbie movie in theatres, snapping fit checks of their Barbie-themed outfits, and singing along to its banging soundtrack, UAE residents who have been eagerly awaiting the Warner Bros. film's release noticed something missing on July 21st.

The pinktastic Barbie film starring Margot Robbie as the iconic doll herself and Ryan Gosling as Barbie's long-time beau 'Ken', was set to release in cinemas worldwide on Friday July 21st, 2023.

Unfortunately for residents and visitors in the UAE, the Barbie movie's release was pushed to a later date. This led to rumours circling around alleging that the film has been banned in the UAE.

But great news, the UAE Media Council has finally cleared the movie's release in cinemas across the country!

When is the Barbie movie coming out in the UAE 2023?

According to Vox Cinema's official website, the Barbie movie will come out in UAE theatres on Thursday August 10th, 2023.

No actual explanation was given for the delay, except that media authorities had to ensure the film met the UAE's standards of media content and age classification.

"The UAE Media Council has granted the Barbie movie the approval to be screened in the UAE’s licensed cinemas after completing the necessary procedures in line with the standards of media content and the UAE age classification," the authority stated.
