The country's highest peak at Jebel Jais mountain became covered in snowfall this weekend.

| Last updated on 14 January 2020Many of us were left powerless to the chilly temperatures that swept across the UAE over the past few days... A lot of us just don't have suitable 'Dubai winter' clothes ready. In Dubai, we were treated to wet weather on Thursday and Friday (2nd and 3rd), mixed with blistering winds and extremely high waves (so high that Palm Jumeirah flooded).

But while we didn't dare step outside in case we blew away, other residents and visitors in the Northern Emirates couldn't wait to get outside thanks to the weather change. Yep, it snowed. It snowed so much in fact, that parts of the UAE were transformed into a winter wonderland.

Thanks to the drastic change in temperature, the mercury dropped to -5 degrees Centigrade on Friday, which saw residents and visitors drive up Jebel Jais.
The UAE's tallest peak in Ras Al Khaimah experienced an influx of visitors thanks to the white stuff, and those that were able to get to the top were able to capture some truly magnificent pictures of the rare weather phenomenon.
