Dubai Stars will honour local and international celebrities, and influential figures who have positively influenced the world

After kicking off with a global social media campaign requesting the public to nominate their favourite public figures for the first 400 stars, Dubai's Walk of Fame will finally unveil next week.

Created by master developer Emaar, Dubai Stars is a walkable tribute of shimmering plaques on Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Boulevard and will soon open to the public on Sunday, October 20 with a mega star-studded event.

The opening will be attended by the 400 highly voted names who will launch their respective, featured star. The list of celebrities who are already confirmed on the list includes Iron Man actor Robert Downey Jr, iconic boxer Muhammad Ali, and Bollywood royalty and Jonas sister Priyanka Chopra.

Since May this year, people have been nominating the ones they strongly believe deserve to be honoured with a star, whether active or deceased.

Earlier this year, Ahmad Al Matrooshi, Managing Director of Emaar Properties said, “Emaar takes pride in ensuring the best lifestyle experience for both residents and visitors to Dubai.

"With Dubai Stars we are further highlighting our commitment to making Dubai the best city in the world, and to promoting arts, culture and sports by saluting the stars, whose contributions continue to inspire the world," he added.

Dubai Stars is similar to that of the Hollywood Walk of Fame. However, upon completion the Downtown Dubai boulevard will have more than 10,000 stars - four times the number of names on Hollywood's.
