Next Few Days to be Dubai International Airport's Busiest This Year

Summer has arrived in Dubai, which means the holiday season is now upon us. This week alone, thousands of UAE residents will be jet-setting off from Dubai International Airport (DXB) or their next vacation, or for a trip back to their home country.

So much so, that DXB is due to face one of its busiest days of 2018 so far.

Dubai International expects to welcome a total of almost 90 million passengers in 2018 alone, and has predicted that Thursday, 28th June will be the busiest day for travel this year.

The school holidays are just days away, and every year it is a common sight to see families heading for a trip away from the scorching summer heat. 

The first weekend of July 2018, from the 5th to the 8th is also expected to be a popular time to travel for residents, as the majority of local UAE schools break-up for summer in the week leading up to those dates. 

In fact - a total of 1.1 MILLION travellers are expected to pass through the gates of DXB in those dates alone.

 
Of course, DXB airport staff are working hard to ensure smooth transits for all passengers using the airport. Essa Al Shamsi, VP Terminal Operations, Dubai Airports, told Khaleej Times, "preparations within the airport for the upcoming peak have been ongoing for the past couple of weeks.

"The entire operations team has been working closely with all our service partners to ensure a seamless journey for customers, from the moment they arrive at DXB to the moment they leave.

"For those travelling in the next few days, we would advise passengers to get to the airport early and encourage them to use the latest technologies we recently added, like the Smart Gates, to expedite their journey."
