Islamic New Year 2024 in UAE: Is There a Public Holiday?

If your work hours fall on a Sunday, then we have great news for you.

Following the long weekend celebrating Eid Al Adha 2024, the next UAE public holiday has been confirmed by officials to take place on July 7th, 2024 for the Islamic New Year.

Sunday will be the first day of the Hijri new year 1446 on the Islamic month of Muharram 1.

For employees whose weekends follow the traditional Saturday-Sunday route, it will be a regular two-day weekend.

However, those who work on Sundays might be pleased to hear that July 7 will be an official public holiday to mark Islamic New Year 2024 (Hijri new year 1446).

Work will resume on Monday, July 8th, 2024.
