Hi Guys,

I am due to move to Kuwait in May/June this year. There is just so much to sort out here in UK however I am eager to get to know as much as possible about where I will be living, what there is to do etc etc when I get there.

I currently work as a Social Worker but dont know exactly how that will work in Kuwait. I am moving because my husband was made redundent last November and has now got a job in Kuwait City. He has had some experience in middle east having worked in Quatar for several months of the past 3-4 years. I am fortunate I dont need to think about work immediately however will be climbing the walls if I am not doing something even voluntary work.

I am also very keen to get to know the areas in Kuwait as I want somewhere that is quiet. I have heard there is a lot of building going on and that this can be 24 hours??? I dont have any children but my husband is wanting to take our 18 month border collie with us, not sure how this would work also as I have heard dogs are not really liked in Kuwait. How would she be walked in the really hot weather.

I hope you all dont mind me bending your ears from time to time. So many things to think about and organise.

Many thanks

Jackie

Hi jackie! I currently live in Dubai but my DH works and lives in Kuwait. I might be moving there myself towards the end of the year. I have a labrador and in Dubai during the summer months you just need to be getting out early well before 7am and then a quick walk in the evening - so it's definately doable. Over the next few weeks and months I will start to check out the facilities for dogs, veterinary care and boarding kennels (we are very spoilt here in Dubai with excellent kennels & daycare for dogs!). My DH has just moved to Al Zahra area which is more residential, it's near a shopping mall called 360 and also about 10 mins away from The Avenues which is a fab shopping mall. Going back to your doggy, apart from the walks obviously he/she will be inside with the A/C on just like my dog in Dubai. The winter months are quite a bit cooler - very cold actually so this is the time to have longer walks and burn a few more pounds as the unfortunately the exercise is less in the summer. If you need a good estate agent let me know. For jobs or anything else look at Dubizzle, fantastic website! Let me know if you any other questions and I'll try to answer them. Good luck!
