Would April 8-15 be a decent time to visit Ireland? What can we expect in terms of weather? Thanks!

You just never know in April...From many years experience, I would suggest bringing lots of layers so you can peel off as necessary. And a raincoat! :) My sister's kids had a week off school last March because of the snow so you just never know weather-wise, though usually towards the end of April we often get a nice bit of sunny, dry weather. Usually the only bit of decent summer we get! I'm heading home on the 1st of April for 2 weeks and can't wait. Hail, rain or shine, I plan to have a ball! :)

well considering Ireland just had its coldest winter in decades and its warmest January, who knows what the weather will be like in April, its anyone's guess really. From my experience though, April and May con normally be lovely with the weather turning bad for the summer months just when you'd expect it to be nice. As said below, Ireland can get many seasons in one day but as also said its one of the most beautiful places in the world (ok I'm biased) so anytime is a good time to visit. Enjoy if you go, you will love it.

Thanks, all. @lazydays: Actually the name comes from an old family nickname. I have never been to Ireland but have always wanted to go. edited by FrancieBrady on 04/02/2011

Sunshine, Rain ,light or heavy, frost , if your really unlucky snow the way the weather around the world is going. Anything goes these days regarding weather in any country.

One from my Irish DH: If you can see the mountains it is about to rain, if you can't then it is already raining...

It can be lovely - fresh spring weather. Crisp though and so You'd need a coat and a jumper. It rains a LOT that's why we have 40 shades of green!

with all due respect surely a name like "francie brady" would suggest that you are from the emerald isle?
