If anyone has experience similar or can offer advice it would be great.

My DS is 5.5 yrs old.
For the last month or so he has had continous coughing fits and sore throat. After 2 courses of anti biotics, last week he began developing a fever (would mainly spike at night).
He began eating less and less and complaining on stomach cramps. Thereafter (and since then) he pretty much vomits everything he eats - which is little enough to start with.
He has been hospitalised 3 days ago.
They have drawn blood to check for major viruses - none found. No signs of diabetes.
Ultrasound to check bowels, appendix etc. Nothing abnormal found.
X-rays - nothing found.
Due to the previous courses of AB's the hosp is only giving him CalPol - 3 times a day.
Since yesterday he has developed blood in his stool. (the stool has also become very loose).
Today his has elbow (the same one that they drew blood from) has swollen to 3 times it's size and red spots have appeared on his back, arms and genitals.
The doctors cannot seem to give us a decent explanation for the stomach cramps/ vomiting etc. and now are unclear and saying that it might be Juvenile Arthritis.
Has ANYONE gone through something similar? We are at our wits end as there seems to be no concise diagnosis from the docs or the hospital.
Overall DS has been a normal kid with no major health issues - just the usual sniffles, coughs, etc.
I'm not expecting major medical advice but would like to know if anyone's LO has been through something similar...
Thanks in advance ladies.

hmm, well that is one of the better ones for sure, did you ask if JA explained the vomiting and tummy? Did you ask about reactions to antibiotics use possibility? Could be several things going on. Doctors need to start thinking out the box on this one. Very worrying for you, would be putting the pressure on the team treating for more answers. Not sure Al wasal would be any better TBH but is a thought to be kept. Keep the dialogue open between you and the doctors and ask lots of questions, are they looking concerned or being laid back? Lets hope you get some answers soon. edited by Sticky Wicket on 15/03/2011

Perhaps u shud consider shifting to Al Wasl? Their pediatric department is excellent and one of the best in the country. When my brother was arnd 2 months old, he had high fever, vomiting and all and my parents went to 2-3 different doctors.. the poor kid had blood tests done and it was a terrible time. Anyways, he was finally taken to Al wasl where they confirmed he had menengitis. Of course, all this was 20yrs back, but i am thinking thier facilities ar even better now. Hope your child feels better soon. Second that --> Wasl Hospital

When DD was 18 months old she was hospitalised with Rota virus. Very similar symptoms...vomiting, loose poos...she ended up on a drip. I am sure they have tested for this but just double check? Hoping your little one gets better quickly. xx
