Hi,
DH, DS (17mo) and me will be doing the DXB-IAD route in Aug...booked on Qatar airways via Doha. We were considering United too, but we got a way better fare on QA -- got DS a seat for the same amount of money we were payng just for DH and myself on United Economy with no upgrades . Also, we've flown QA earlier for shorter routes and are pretty happy with their service.
You can check seatguru.com for an idea on the seats.
Be sure to get a bassinet for your LO -- at 2 months she'll probably sleep for teh most part, so you'll have some time to yourself for sure.
Safe journey :)
thx FG! So, youre the 3rd person i know to note an update to their systems since last year. Was it a 3 3 3 configuration?
I'll be traveling with a 2 mo old so may just go for an upgrade but wanted to know the worst case scenario set-up.
As long as there is some sort of in seat entertainment, i think DD will occupy me the rest. ;)
Yes, it was 3 3 3!

I flew this route last August and the video system was ****. Did it again in February and there was a big update (though not as good as Qatar video) so I'm assuming the plane was new or renovated? I do choose this route for the nonstop. They have Economy Plus as well, which is $149 I think, or included once you have enough miles. Reaching that point doesn't take long when traveling the DXB-IAD route.
Anyone ventured the 15hour journey on United?
I'm partial to do DXB to IAD on Qatar just for quality/age of airplane but have heard that United recently replaced their 777s for this journey.
Can anyone confirm if the planes have been upgraded recently?
TIA
