Pregnant again, Insurance? Pay as you go? AHDubai? or welcare?!

Yes I know! I have too many questions. I have been researching and calling insurance companies like crazy, but I dont get anywhere.
so a little background of me: I moved to Dubai 4 years ago when I was 7 month pregnant with my DS, I had my research done, went with Dr.Koster and American hospital and I just LOVED my experience. I am pregnant again and this time, we can use a bit of financial help, thats why we thought of getting insurance. DH company is not covering us.
now that I am looking for insurances, no company covers maternity unless you get preggo one year later! expect for ADNIC and the basic plan turns to almost 30,000 Dirhams. now IF i go with ADNIC, I have to change hospital to welcare and change doctor as well, I had such awesome experience that it is scary to do it allover again with a new OB. and if I dont want to change and stick with Dr.Koster and AHD, I have no idea how much I have to pay DURING 9 month. since I moved here when I was almost 8 month preggo, I dont know the costs of pregnancy. I called up polyclinic where Dr.Koster resides and they told me I will be having 2 scans which are 750 each. and each visit is 490. how about tests? I am from Canada, and I did loads of tests in my last pregnancy for free there! so what happens to the tests?!!
how many times will she see me? can I have ultra sound as many times as i want? or is it that major 2 scans?! I am so confused and I am so tired.. would appreciate if someone can help me out here. Thankksss

Thank you GEA, it was actually very helpful knowing welcare is so much more affordable. And how is the personnel? Like I said I had a great experience in AHD, everyone was so friendly, it was 4am and I have heard of horror stories of nurses and doctors being tired and pushing the patient to have a c-section because it's taking too long!! They were also very accomedating, I asked for a birth ball, I asked to give birth while standing, I asked to have a shower before birth, and everything happened for me with a big smile . So yeah.. I would love to hear others experiences in other hospitals, specially welcare. Thanks again Hi nebita, i found the nurses (mainly Philippine) to be very friendly. I got the same one most times i went to do the blood pressure/weight check they do every time. My Dr was amazing... apart from him asking "how was that for you" a few minutes after giving birth! ha ha, i suppose a good sense of humour is a good thing. The one person that did a bad job was the anesthetist (Indian lady) she took 4 attempts! but maybe you wont be going down that route anyway. I heard a lot of stories about pushing for c-sections before i signed up to a hospital. i chose Welcare because they dont force anything upon you. you are mainly left to your own devices unless you ask for anything. As i said i was induced. i was taken in at 10pm and had the 1st gel from my usual dr, i got 2 more lots of gel then asked if i wanted them to brake my water or wait for it "naturally". i waited and never felt like i was being a hinderance to them. i would go back to welcare to have another baby (but as baby no 1 is teething at the moment that wont be anytime soon!!!)

If you go to Welcare i would recommend Dr Marcus Pace. I was 6 months preg when we moved here and in the last 3 months i was seen every fortnight until the final month where i was seen once a week. Each time i was scanned. more or less each appointment cost about 600 dhs (consultation and scan). I had most of the tests done prior to arrival here but had to get the glucose test done. I had a normal delivery and the cost was 13,000 dhs. hope this helps. (Edited to add - the 13k included me being induced and an epidural) <em>edited by GEA1984 on 18/09/2011</em>

Hi Nebita, 18 months ago i delivered DD in AH (pregnancy with dr. Koster although she had an emergency and sent another dr. to the hospital when I was in labour) - all (appointments+dr. fees + hospital fees) did cost us around Dhs20K (vaginal delivery with no meds). HTH
