We got the Health Cards when we arrived in Qatar 2 + years ago. The cards not have an expiry date on it. Recently we have heard these need to be renewed annually. Does anyone know please? If so how? Can it be done on line - (would love to avoid another one of those Doha kind of experiences). Because the cards do not have expiry dates on we thought they were valid for duration of our time in Qatar. Thanks.

Thanks for you advice ladies. CSH - I printed your instructions and gave them to DH. It took him 5 mins to renew the cards at Rumalia. He was so impressed with your directions, and how fantastic EW is for getting accurate and good info & advice.

You don't need a new card. Just renew on line (when it will let you) and just keep using the old card.

I always renew ours at Rumeilha hospital. It is the easiest place to go. I fell foul of the internet system once as it took 9 months for them to send the new card. Now it is easier as you keep your card. However, at Rumeilha the cashier is just next to the entrance and you just walk in hand over the cards and money and then you are done! At least that way you can be sure your cards will work. Rumeilha is easy to find. Turn off the C ring just before the underpass if you are coming from Ramada. Go down to the next roundabout and do a u turn. The entrance is just on the right. Parking can be a bit hit and miss.

Yes it is very easy to renew online on hukoomi...see post from fhasnat. You will not be sent a new card...its automatically updated in their system. I keep a note of the expiry date as it is difficult to check expiry dates online except at the portal where you renew!! Alternatively you can check expiry dates at one of your local clinics.

They expire one year after being issued. Not sure where you would take them to get renewed as we just drop them off at HR where my husband works and they take care of it for us. ~ Deb

I can't find any info on that but I assume if they do need to be renewed it would be the same place that issues them...is yours to a particular health centre to the main hospital? I know they issue them at the health centre I have been to in WB. They have a little office and it says Medical Cards - its on the mens side :)
