i have iphone 4 from Etisalat, not sure it is locked or unlocked. dose anyone know about it. and how we find out it is locked or unlocked.

Hi, Thanks for replie ladies, skype has been downloaded, and facetime i know it was blocked by etisalat my mobile is from etisalat, SEY 83, (which may be difficult if your iPhone uses a microsim) its means all iphone are on microsim or they have options to use normal sim or microsim. i have no idea which sim etisalat add in my mobile. thanks

It depends what you mean by locked. If you're refering to trying to use the phone with another sim card, then you have to either do what Sumi suggested (which may be difficult if your iPhone uses a microsim) or just call etisalat. If you're referring to "locked" as in so of the features don't work, then yes, usually iphones from etisalat are locked. The feature that is primarily disabled is Facetime (still dont understand the logic to this!!!) but some countries have disabled Facetime so when you buy your phone from Etisalat then this feature simply doesn't exist on your iphone. Plus you can't download it. What you can do is jailbreak your phone and then install it. Skype is another option, but I think even Skype cant be downloaded, but I may be wrong about this. Alternatively, when purchasing your iphone, dont go through Etisalat - many of the retailers sell factory unlocked iphones which has all features. Once you have a device that has Facetime, it works perfectly with wifi.

it should be unlocked... best way to check, put another sim in it and see if its works... phone calls that is. If it does then the phone is unlocked and can be used with any sim. hope this helps :)
