Hello Ladies,

I'm hoping that i can get an answer or at least a lead to what direction we must go in, know a muslim lady her DH a Christian, married in their home country, they've recently given birth (in Dubai) and the authorities won't release their birth certificate of the baby as the religions of the parents don't match! Has anyone gone thorough something similar and can guide me on what course they should take. Both are Indians.

TIA

Sorry but I might not be very helpful, however I checked some Gov websites and nothing is mentioned about both parents needing the same religion. Many couples here are of different religions, the reason I think they refuse to issue the certificate is because the mother is Muslim and the father is a non Muslim. In this case according to Islamic law the marriage is invalid, and they are considered not married. Have your friends tried to check with the Indian embassy? They might be able to help. I found this link: http://ukinuae.fco.gov.uk/en/help-for-british-nationals/living-in-uae/how-to-register-birth Thanks Marroosh!
