I am planning to switch health insurance. AXA is requesting the copy of the old insurance card with the application for a new insurance. could they check with the old insurance about pre existing conditions or why would they want the old insurance cards?????

Health Authority of Abu Dhabi - Basically they require you to always have health insurance, so when you're applying for health insurance in Abu Dhabi, they will check to see when your last one expired if you've been living in the UAE for some time. re yes i know what haad is, but couldnt figure out what fines, yes its a new rule that in order to get a visa you must have medical insurance, but surely you just need to show them the old card (if you dont have to send it back to insurer when its run out) or a piece of paper from the insurance company to say that you were covered last year etc, you dont need to give them out any personal information at all. but its the companies responsiblity to sort it out in abu dhabi so get the pro onto it.

i would say they are just looking at pre-existing conditions etc, but you must put any down, as you wouldnt be covered in any case with a new policy.

Your information with the old insurance company is confidential, and unless you sign a paper that declares you are ok with your info to be shared the old company has no right to release such info even if you give the new company a copy. But before doing that, ask AXA directly why they asked for the old insurance. If they dont have a good reason (based on a law or something) you can simply refuse.
