Hi there, I have had the similar situation whilst waiting for my husbands visa to come through I fell pregnant. My husband still has his visa. I have decided not to do mine yet and have the baby in my home country that I am still a resident. What I found out whilst tirelessly researching options. If you do your residency visa MOST insurance companies will not cover your pregnancy as you are already pregnant. There are some who will cover it BUT I was told I would have to pay a large premium depending on if your pregnancy is low or high risk. Expecting to pay about 20,000 aed. This was because the insurance company know they will have to pay out for your birth and put extra on so that it covers any complications that may happen. If you pay yourself for the birth after speaking to different hospitals you are looking at the 15,000 aed mark . After speaking with people the Corniche hospital was most recommended and that was someone who was previously a midwife there - she stated that you may not get your private room etc but the medical personal there are the best. ADNIC with some of their policies cover you from day one if you are already pregnant (but high premium). I heard Daman possibly do- but after so much stress with all of this and the company messing us around for 6 months with my husbands visa I just decided better to have my baby at home. **most other companies require 6 months of having the insurance before you become pregnant to enable your pregnancy to be covered.
