I'm finally getting around to setting up my Aramex account. Do they deliver to PO Boxes or do you have to go and pick it up? I'm not sure what our actual street address is - behind WOQOD, next to Jaidah flyover doesn't sound quite right!!

The only problem I've had with a non-UK credit card not being accepted is Karen Millen, which is really annoying since their stuff is marked up over 60% in the shops here :(

Carathop, please be warned that the new DHL service charge by volumetric weight, not actual weight. We used this last month to ship a few items from the US & it cost us QR640!! The equivalent weight through Aramex S&S would have cost us QR260. My hubby was on the phone to DHL in a jiffy to tell them they had made a mistake, until he was politely explained to in great detail that if a relatively small item is delivered to them in a big box, they will calculate (using some complicated mathematics) the theorectical weight of the box had it been full & then charge for that. Don't be fooled by their marketing like we were - never again!

DHL has a new program like Shop & Ship (EasyShop, maybe?). I am sure the prices are comparable. I was told by the guy at the kiosk at Villaggio that you can have your packages delivered to any of the mall locations (Villagio, City Centre...) and pick them up there rather than the DHL offices. Might be worth looking into.

The US sites that definitely take non-US (including Qatari) cc's: Amazon Gap Old Navy Lands end Zappos Apple (but they won't ship to S&S - I had them ship to my brother then he sent it to my S&S address) These are the sites I've ordered from in the past while - if you've used others with a Qatari (or other non-US) credit card, let us know! Picklz we do have DHL and FedEx - and they definitely deliver door to door - but prices are much higher than Shop and Ship. Even though it's a nuisance, it's still the best deal in town.

I cant believe they dont deliver to your door! What a shame! We have Aramex here in Bahrain and use it fairly often..at least once a month and they deliver to our door! We are moving to Doha over the summer ...but am wondering are there other similar delivery services that you may have used and liked? Like DHL or some other?

We've spent so much on S&S that I think we own shares in Aramex by now! Our experience has been that the US sites are difficult when it comes to accepting an overseas credit card, but the UK sites have no problems at all, which is a nuisance as the US sites are usually far cheaper. We order at least twice a month through S&S & it's a fantastic service.

I have never had a problem ordering from the UK. In fact S and S changed my life - how sad is that!?! Although the shopping in Qatar has got hugely better over the years there are still some things you find you can't live without. I just wish Aramex would get more organised in their `office'. When they moved from Salwa Road a few years ago I hoped it would be better but it has got worse! If the delivery numbers are anything go by Aramex is obviously very popular here, even with the locals.

I tried to order from Kenneth Cole in the US and use my UK AMEX with my US S&S and they said no go. They accept paypal online though so they said that was OK. I have only ordered successfully from the Amazon.co.uk which I have always found amazon.com or .co.uk will usually accept foreign credit cards. As for time, I found everything was super fast. As for Apple, it is more so because they have some tight export laws edited by ccdoha on 01/07/2011

The only shopping site I've ever found that doesn't ship to the shop and ship address is apple.com. Otherwise it's been great!

Novice I can't help you on the S&S side, but what do you need from Mothercare & when is your travel date? If it's small I can bring it over with me on the 11th (sorry not much room in the suitcase at the moment...)

And yes it is extremely annoying that we pay the same fee as Dubai, yet they get delivery and we have to go pick it up ourselves!!! I complained at the Aramex office and they claimed it was because there are many more S&S customers in Doha than Dubai. Which I don't believe at all!!! :)

Hope you don't mind if I jump on board. I am interested in opening an Aramex S&S account too. But I read on the Dubai forum that many US & UK retailers don't accept locally issued credit cards and/or do not deliver to forwarding addresses. Do the experienced Shop & Shippers mind sharing with us which stores/websites they have successfully ordered from using Shop & Ship and a Qatar issued credit card? And which stores/websites gave you problems? Also, how long does it normally take, from ordering online, until receiving notification from Aramex that the package has arrived? I need to order something from Mothercare UK but am worried it won't arrive before my travel date. Thanks :)

If you're referring to Shop and Ship - no, they don't deliver so you collect your parcel/s from their customer service office (near Decoration R/A). My pet peeve is, although we pay the same shipping rates, Dubai's Aramex Shop and Ship provides door to door delivery.

You go to Aramex to collect your parcels once they arrive in Doha. They send you a text to let you know when you have parcels ready for collection ;)
