I go to Vision Salon (behind Chilis C ring, in the same part that Shatar Abbas is) and get mani/pedi and threading complete for 130 QR. They give hand and foot massage, trim cuticles, and will fix an ingrown nail if needed. Compaired to the treatment and service I would get back in the USA, I would same it is the same! In fact the girl who does the threading is amazing, best I have ever had! I do bring my own polish though as I like to use a specific brand, but this has no effect on the cost. No need for an appointment, I just go right in. Cannot recommend them enough

the woman at glow west bay that does the basic mani is a filipina lady, I think her name is maria but not sure but very sweet!

I haven't had gel before. But I was so bummed about my last pedi not lasting at all (I'm used to getting 3-4 weeks out of a pedi in the States), that when the tech said, "This will last a long time," I said, "Sign me up." So far it's been great. The mani has been great too. That wasn't gel color, just regular nail polish. I even went bowling in it the other night, and there aren't any chips. My nails are short, though, so that may be why.

OK so I'm cheap and love a bargain.... something for nothing sounds like a good price point! but also it has to be a reasonable cost, something that makes sense to me... in London I would pay 120 QR for mani-pedi with polish so I compare prices in these terms..... in abu dhabi I pay 110Dhs = 110QR for mani pedi that has hand/feet soak, scrub, cream massage on both, cuticle remove, nail trim and file with polish or french! plus if I want hard skin bladed, do that to at no extra cost!! feet like a hobbit some months!! salon is in a mall so Landmark - booth wanted 200QR and 40QR for threading eyebrows medical spa the same...... in Abu Dhabi, I pay 20dhs threading .....waxing underarm here only 25dhs all at salons that expat and locals visit.... so trial and error it is in Doha too.... like the sound of glow, there is a branch near me in West bay .... will give them a ring when I get to Doha eventually.... thanks for your replies....

The little booth opposite Pauls in Landmark is excellent for everything, there is a girl from Nepal and her waxing and threading is excellent. The girl (Liza?) does tinting and they all do v good mani/pedi. I have found it quite reasonable and no appointment is necessary you just turn up:)

@Krasch have you had gel on your feet before? I'm curious as I heard that it's really difficult to get it off your feet. I've had gel mani's before, but wasn't impressed with having to soak them in acetone to get it off - it felt like it removed my fingerprints for a few days!

There is a place upstairs from one of the make up shops in Landmark, I don't think it's above Sephora but might be the other makeup shop, (It was Dec so don't remember) I paid 150 or 165 for a manicure only and it was not very good at all... the tech said to me she couldn't trim my cuticles because I might bleed????? At Glow West Bay I paid 45 for a mani and it was very basic (file and polish) but definitely worth 45. This was before they were set up to do other nail services so you should check them out. I know they have a new girl there that is western (maybe British) doing the shellac and acrylics so I am sure she knows the standard that we would be expecting. I have also had a mani at the medical spa in Villagio the first week I arrived. I asked how much the mani was and they said something like under 100 QR. It was pretty basic, nothing out of the ordinary, then when I paid it was almost double and they explained the polish was extra...

I know this is really general, but honestly it depends on where you go. I got a pedicure at Dados that cost QR165 (and the technician didn't use a top coat so the whole thing lasted 5 days--I'm really not happy with Dados right now). Then last week I got a gorgeous mani/pedi at the salon in my compound, Samrya Gardens, that cost QR170 for everything (it was a little more than a normal mani/pedi because she used gel polish on my feet and did a design). So you really need to shop (which it sounds like you're doing). Truly though, look at Samrya Gardens (next to Doha College). I was really impressed with their work.
