I drove around Al Reef this afternoon and I quite like the place. Is there a shared swimming pool and gym within the compound? yes there is. each "village" will have there own, but there is only 1 finished at the moment. go and search out their facebook page that will give you loads of information.

I live in Al Reef, and like any place you rent in Abu Dhabi, It has it's ups and downs. Our facebook pages is a great place to get information, and like all facebook posts people tend to write the negatives more than the positives. I have not seen any spiders, snakes, or other critters in my garden area or while i am out walking. The positives about the area are, it is very kid friendly, big garden area, and a safe community. Construction of the villas are not the best, but then again our other place had many more problems. The drive to go shopping is the biggest disadvantage. Hopefully our shops will be opening soon in a couple months. Good luck finding a place. Lots of places to choose from.

Thanks for all the valuable information about Al Reef. Did check out facebook. Honestly, was "frightened" by the problems mentioned by some of the residents on facebook :(

We live in Al Reef and love it, there is a real community spirit around the place. Our facebook page is very active, which is why people hear so much of the problems, but personnaly its no worse than anywhere else in Abu Dhabi for build quality etc. We never hear the airport (3 planes in 12 months!!!). I love that I can park my car right outside my front door and not have to lug shopping through apartments etc. There is a bus service that runs into the city every 20 minutes, and our shops are going to be open before August Inshallah. I love that I can be in the centre of Dubai in a hour, but it still only takes me 20 minutes to get to the Corniche. The hotels on Yas are excellent for restaurants and nights out and only 10 minutes away (20 AED taxi). Wish this had been available when we moved to the UAE 3 years ago. i was coming back from yas yesterday, and whoosing up the road was a stupid idiot in a yellow camero, he was weaving in and out on the main road just dodging cars and squeezing through gaps, i could see him coming so i just moved out of his way. he then proceeded to fly around the r/a and into al reef. so watch out for him! ad does have a problem with build quality as its individuals with shovels, but you would think that certain bigger builders would be better, but nope not always the case. the better builders here are arabtec, you get what you pay for, but of course it doesnt help when some landlords do not help out where they are obliged to like in the rest of the world etc. the first 2 phases are further from the runway so the closer you are when they start to use the new runway properly its bound to become more of an issue. at least they have made a second entrance on to the main road rather than all go through to one exit, thats the prob that kca is having, building too many schools etc there and only really 2 ins...! but then that is also the prob in other places such as mussafah! Lol - I think battling down 30th twice a day prepares me well enough to handle anyone in Al Reef, unfortunately thats the joys of living in the UAE ooooh i know but take it from me 30th is wacky races, you need to drive on al ain road to get the ultimate wacky races! the speed limit is higher than mussafah road to start with.... and they are all driving up from the suburbs!

We looked at a villa in Al Reef yesterday and hoping we can sort out the paperwork asap and move in July :) I just want my children to have friends they can walk to visit instead of having to drive them everywhere and my own garden with grass :)

Am exploring renting a place in Al Reef. Any feedback or advice to share? as i said before, this is where they are getting the spiders. look at their facebook page, that will tell you a lot. some people are experiencing lots of problems with the build quality, the bad drivers up there, the parking issues and the noise, and being so far away at the moment. obviously that will all change at some point.
