A great friend from the UK is looking at a possible position at this school. Does anyone have any info on the school (good or bad!) many thanks in advance :)

nothing to worry about al ain, not at all. just be wary about driving along the al ain road. Is it a bad road BB? yeh the mussafah road is bad enough but the al ain road is worse. if you stay in the slower lanes and keep out of the fast 2 lanes you will be fine.

Thank you so much, I will pass on the info. What I have managed to find on the internet are pretty damning reports from (I presume former) employees. However, I am always cautious to take these as gold as many poeple only take the time to write a negative report rather than a positive one, so perhaps the lack of positive blogs about the school isn't all that telling. Thanks again for taking the time to respond :)

Hi, don't think busybee meant that - just that people were assuming you meant a school in Abu Dhabi, not Al Ain! Nothing to be wary of in Al Ain, except perhaps the odd speed freak driver.... I don't really know anything about Madar International School, which is probably saying something as I've lived here (in Al Ain) for a number of years and have school-age children. Let me put it this way - it never comes up in conversation re schools in Al Ain, though I have seen a sign for it, so know it exists! In any case, she might want to ask about housing allowance (rents in Al Ain aren't as high as in Abu Dhabi, but they're creeping up and a good allowance is essential, particularly if one has a family), also flights, salary, and all the usual.... She could try Al Ain English Speaking School - they may be hiring.... Good luck!
