So question for BB and Smita, is it allowable to ask for a terms fees then?
Also what happened with Repton in Dubai?
the rules are that a school can only receive the terms fees on the first day of term, not before. they can ask for an admin charge etc before the term starts so in most cases 500 dhs but in the case of bsak there rego fee is a lot more to secure the place.
repton was saying that we are the top school in uk and it will be the same in dubai, we justify why we are charging all these fees, and then in the first year loads of teachers/leadership team left etc, and a lot of the kids left as they didnt give what they promised, you will have to do a search on here and i am sure it will give you all the information etc.
BB, yes, BSAK is established, but I do believe going from BC to BSAK would not be difficult if the child is bright/capable.
no you get me wrong, i dont mean that you wouldnt be able academically to go from bc to bsak, i mean that if you were lucky to be offered a place at bsak for next academic year and let it go you are very unlikely to get another chance.
We have been offered a place at BC and considering at the moment. But also have a place at another school (well established with good reputation) which we have paid desposit for. I think BC will be a good school (the facilities, teachers and curriculum sound great in theory) and I like the smaller class sizes (as long as they remain committed to that). I am concerned about the financial committment involved in the acceptance letter which means you have to pay the first terms fees if you decide later not to go ahead and take the place. As far ar as I am aware none of the other schools require these type of deposits at this stage. Considering the school isnt even built yet, I think its quite risky. What do others think who have a choice between BC and other schools?
I think that it varies from one family to another, we want to be here for many years so we are willing to risk the bumpy 1st year that BC may have, but if you only intend to be here for say 1/2 years it maybe better to attend the more established schools...its a question of what is best for your children/ and or circumstances.
I was also a little wary of the first term fees, but as it is a new school I understand that it is important for them to know how many children will be attending the school, so that they be better organised in planning of classrooms/resources etc
We have accepted the offer at BC for my daughter in year 1. We are looking forward to attend the evening at Park Rotana and have everything crossed this school doesnt go the repton way.\

I do hope that schools here judge the child through their own assessments and not on which school the child comes in from..

We got a place at BC -and declined. 60k a year would have been to much for us. I think BC will be a good school, probably as good as BSAK in a few years.
We are taking a leap of faith with the 'new school thing' with both our boys going to BCAD, yes we readily accept there will be teething problems as with all new schools that open here however well prepared and experienced the SLT are in the Middle East. What is most important to us is how quickly and efficiently they deal/overcome the problems and move onwards and upwards. I have a feeling this school will be a great school (said with my fingers and toes crossed ;) )

Yes - I read (and contributed to the previous thread). i suppose I am still undecided having school places at BSAK and BC and was looking for other opinions, and more specifically who is going to this school I am attracted to BC by the strong curriculum and the small numbers, however of course BSAK is the "tried and tested!"
i would go with bsak as its established, you probably can always swap to bc if you wanted to, but you will not be able to do it the other way, if you do not take up the bsak places they will not reappear again.

My DS has just been offered a place - anybody out there chosen Brighton College?
Hi, my 4 year old has been accepted to Brighton. The thread Busybee referred you to has all our 'sagas' with regards to finding a placement in a school here :)
Presumably the lack of replies means that no one else is taking the plunge with a new school? My DS will get 1:1 teaching!!! What are the general concerns - positives and negatives??
no there are a few on here that are going to BC, just think that they havent seen it yet. do a search for some old threads, there has been a bit of discussion on it.
