Hi, I'm Jennifer. I'm new here. I was wondering if anyone can help me decide on the best cosmetics? Doing much of a research, I came across an online shopping site. They have listed a number of products on their site. All seems good (just by the looks!). I was wondering if it is genuine purchasing from them and the products. Please help me out, here!

I'll surely take your advice busybee 2. We need to settle down first and I will sort out things. Being in a strange city is what concerns my husband. He will allow me to do if I convince him. It won't be much long when I will be meeting you guys up. I wish my purchases do go well. Fingers crossed!

when i arrived in auh like nearly 16 years ago, there werent many expats here, there was defo no internet forums...! i had a toddler and was pregnant, my hubs was working up the road in dxb, i had no phone as you couldnt buy them until you had your visa etc etc...... one thing i had to have was a car...! and then i had an traffic accident in the new car wasnt my fault 3 days later, and i can tell you the fun and games we had trying to sort it out...... (court/hospital/paperwork etc etc) which would take way too long... luckily things have improved 300% since that time.... just get out and meet people otherwise you will not enjoy yourself and will go mad.

Yeah, I know busybee 2. It will be. We have just moved here, so I have loads of work to do. I think everything will be fine soon. I have placed the order, just for the trial. If everything goes well, I will order the rest.

Thank you so much for your concern ladies. Back in UK, I used to do online shopping and everything was perfect! One of my husband's colleague too did recommend this site. No ladies out here knows much about that site, eh?What is your opinion of me giving a shot at it? My husband doesn't allow me to go out alone. He is too protective that he doesn't want me to leave home in fact. why cant you leave the home, its safe to do so... we are not in a war zone! not very helpful i think, you should be able to explore and go shopping on your own, and meet people. it will get very very boring stuck at home all day with no contact etc.

Yes, I'll convince him somehow. Yesterday, when I asked him about ordering, he had suggested me to go on with the purchase. If so many people are suggesting them, then it might not be a fraudulent one. I think I'll give it a shot.

He doesn't want you to leave the house - why on earth not? You're a responsible adult. Protective or controlling? You're never going to meet people and make friends if that's how he is. Take Ginnee up on her kind offer, she could be a lifeline. Friends are so very important when you're an expat.

J13, where in AD are you? If I can, I will give you a lift somewhere. Or at least advise you about public transport. I've been in your position, with new born, and then growing babies. It's horrible relying on hubby to get out.

I wouldn't buy cosmetics online - you need to try them out first. I always buy MAC and there are several stores in the malls here. The sales assistants will give you advice & help you choose. If your husband can't take you shopping, why don't you get a taxi? You can't sit home alone Jennifer13! Come to the expat woman coffee mornings when they start up again in al wadha mall on Wednesday mornings and make some new friends. Then shopping will be fun!

Thank you so much for your responses ramolowe and busybee2. The thing is that I don't know a soul out here and I have started to think about ordering things online only. My husband has too much of work in his office nowadays that he has little time to take me to shopping. Moreover, I found that the CEO of this site -Sheriff .. something, recently had given a radio interview. Many banks do support and promote them too. So, I was wondering if ordering from them is genuine. What is your catch at it? edited by Jennifer13 on 19/08/2013

Hey Jennifer, I have learned from my mistakes and don't repeat them anymore. Online a lot of things are available and a small line runs under it with quotes "The product may not be the same as it is seen in this picture". Do not take risk with cosmetics. If u want to buy some then the best is to visit "Sephora" in any of the malls around u or even "Make Up For Ever". I normally find both of them in Dubai Mall. They have a wide range of products. Try them out. Have a good day

watch out some couriers will not ship cosmetics.
