Never used an agency before, but their properties look interesting. Anyone used them before? any idea about the commission?
Another subject: Can one rent a property WITHOUT going through an agency?
TIA

Not too late, still looking. I found these "Chestertons" advertising villas for unbelievable prices. http://www.chestertonsuae.com/abu-dhabi-property/abu-dhabi-villas.htm Can this be true? a new 4 bedroom villa in khaldiya for 135,000? dont believe any of the prices especially in paper/websites you will find they all do it and that when you enquire about this particular villa etc you will get "oh sorry that has just gone etc etc". if they are being advertised at that price the place is very old and has no maintance etc in the olden days the prices were about that but no now.

estate agents here are not the same as the uk, they are all pretty much the same, mostly useless. to find a property sometimes you see signs that are direct from owner, especially in the "new expat owned areas" but quite often even if thats the case, and there is a mortgage on the property you then have to deal with the bank who then charge you commission on top. and the fact that you as the tenant pays the agent fees!

Probably a bit late but we have just used them. I think it really depends on who you have the luck (or not) to get. Our agent is quite useless, we chase her on something and she says "haven't you seen my email?" - no because you didn't send it! We keep having to chase her for everything. She has screwed up most things and not really made it a very stress free experience.
