send it in by email today, its done by date order, not who is at the front of the q, as there are different priorities etc, so you may have loads of people in front of you in queue order, but you may be ahead of them in priority etc if you see what i mean. Thank you, have emailed the application! Thank you to all for your responses....has been a great help. Hopefully final question but I am also unaware of where the office is for Brighton College. They emailed this below; 3. The Admissions Office has recently moved to the Al Maha Residential Complex which is adjacent to Al Bateen Airport and not far from Carrefour. Is it C4 on airport road that they are talking about? :) c4 is on airport road that isthe one they are talking about, and they are meaning one of the villa compounds just across the road from c4, which is next door to the al bateen executive airport. basicially by the big roundabout with the flyover (2nd st) over the top and you have a choice of going up to adnec (30th) airport road (2nd) and muror road (4th) and into the compounds/al bateen airport. i think al maha is the one that is facing the main roads. the actual school is not off airport road its off east coast road/salam st which is behind the al bateen airport.

:( didn't manage to email BSAK application today since I am still waiting for my dh's employer to send me confirmation that visa is being processed & this is mandatory with the application. Called BSIAD to check if they have any answer yet since its been 3 weeks from when I sent application however they promised that they should get back to me by the end of february. Will also have to keep my fingers crossed for some luck with al yasmina. I feel so out of control!! as i said before if you get a letter from the employer to say that the visa is being processed etc then that is enough for bsak. you dont need to actually have the visa page just a letter confirming so, there is a proforma letter i believe with the admission information (or there used to be). have you talked to them about not having the visa? edited to add; i have just looked on the wesbite and yes the proforma letter is there you need to scroll down a few pages, and its the residence visa page but you ignore version 1 which is if you have a visa already you need to get the company to fill in the letter version2 which is that they are applying for it. edited by busybee2 on 02/02/2011

i hope you got your application forms in today for bsak, as i expected queing out of the door this morning. although i was less impressed with a chap with british passports who came along to bsak yesterday 5 mins after the admin staff clocked off who was ranting and raving on the phone presumily to his wife, that the registrar had dared to leave on time....! considering the application process doesnt start until the day after and the fact that they will be working extremely hard from today onwards processing all the many of hundreds of application forms. but you should remember if you are having a little hissy fit, remember you just dont know who is listening to it, it could be the governors of the school it could be anyone and that may have an affect on your application, and the fact that he was actually talking with the Headteacher as well, perhaps it may not go in your favour! No I did not get it in!!! (insert expletives here) Do you think tomorrow is too late or can I email and take the originals tomorrow? The application form has a section where is says received via Hand/Email/Fax.... Missing DHs passport as he has it with him at work (oh and the residence visa letter). I could cry at the moment.....2 sick boys at home and this is stressing me :( Maybe I should call them now rather than posting on EW!! and yes the lovely lady on the phone said I can email....pheeewww edited by MimiM on 01/02/2011 edited by MimiM on 01/02/2011

3. The Admissions Office has recently moved to the Al Maha Residential Complex which is adjacent to Al Bateen Airport and not far from Carrefour. Thank you for the info. I think I will wait until they are good and ready to post the admissions pack on the website. I'm not familiar with the Al Maha complex (we are new to AD). Do you know it it is an office building or just an area? In any case if they intend to do something by the end of January they are running a bit late, aren't they? edited by eli19 on 31/01/2011

Brighton college says they will be accepting applications at the end of January. I went to the website but they provide precious little information as to what the fees are, registration fess, etc. Does anyone here have any knowledge about Brighton college? I have a little one who will be 5 in late July. I have been checking their website daily to see when the application form would be posted but no luck! I emailed them and got this response; Many thanks for your enquiry and your interest in the College. I can advise as follows: 1. An Admissions Pack will be made available later in the month, but in any event before the end of January. It will contain all the information you need to make an informed decision for your son’s education, including Curriculum Overview, Schedule of Fees and Registration Form. 2. I am confident that the Registration Form will be uploaded to the website so that you can complete most of the registration formalities from the comfort of your home. There will be a Registration Fee of AED500 per child. 3. The Admissions Office has recently moved to the Al Maha Residential Complex which is adjacent to Al Bateen Airport and not far from Carrefour. 4. Please click on the link to visit our website where more and more information is being uploaded all the time. As you will see, while we are making excellent progress with the build the school is too much of a work-in-progress to permit tours at this time. Nothing about fees unfortunately...... edited by MimiM on 31/01/2011

in nursery at bsak there are only 75 spaces then in receptions upwards they then move from 3 classes to 5 classes so another 50 spaces, well if the 75 all move up which is usually the case then it doesnt leave many spaces..... you can do the math. thats the problem, has always been that way.

ozzie passports are good, but ofcourse its a british school so british passport holders will get first prefence, there are quite a few ozzie kids in bsak dont know about acs. basicially its english speaking countries, will get priority over non english etc. but of course as i have said before when you have too many brits after too few places then there are going to be a lot of people on waiting lists etc. at least now ad has got more options, think back only a few years that bsak and cambridge were the only two brit schools around. ozzie passports are good too, british and uae locals siblings and then english speaking people lol. but it just depends on who whats what for what year. there are a few ozzies in the school. i hope that you have applied to all other schools though. different year wherever. brighton college or bisad. bisad i have heard is good for younger years. edited by busybee2 on 22/01/2011 Sorry to disagree with you BB2, but if you are talking about BSAK or say ACS, then unless there if a rare space available then Australian passports are next to useless to get into these schools, particularly in the 4 year old age group like the OP is talking about. As an Aussie passport holder with a 4 year old child, I have been there, done that. I have also many English friends with [u'>UK passports [/u'>at this age who can't even get their kids into BSAK at this age group. Unless you are wanting to get into a non nationality specific preference school, the Aussie passports tend to fall through the cracks, so to speak. The OP will have better luck trying to get their child into other schools that are mentioned like Pearl, Al Muna, Al Yasmina, GEMS etc, depending on what curriculum they want.

Oh no, if that is the criteria I will be way way down the list :( what passport do you hold, as long as you first language is english. Australian passport and English is our first language. Thanks again for your advice BB2 :)

i believe that if you put in your application on say the 20th and it comes in by email, then thats when they put it down etc. so they do not count it down as first person in line, is no 1 etc etc, in bsak they just do it by date order i believe because each application form will be different ie british passports get prefence, british passports issued in uae get prefence, uae locals, siblings and so on.

I'm kind of in panic mode. sent my al yasmina applications by email. does that mean that my kids don't stand a chance at all? With people queuing I assume they will not even have the time to process emails & hence first take the applications of people who are already in abu dhabi. please advise since the school issue is worrying me too much When I spoke with the school to find out what time to arrive to submit the application they said they preferred it via email. They assured me no preference would be given if it was hand delivered. Hope it all works out for you.....the school issue is a worry to me too.
