Thank you ladies for your responses....finally have my applications completed and ready to submit :\: Starting with Al Yasmina tomorrow morning! :) Decided to take the schools advice that they would prefer the application be emailed (from 7.30am) rather than everyone line up
Have taken your advice Busybee and applying for them all....hopefully we will get our preference sooner or later.
Thanks again
Aldar schools are accepting applications for non siblings [that was last Thursday'> this coming Thursday. Make sure you have the form completed ready to take in. Last year parents were queuing up at the schools at 5am!
Hi,
Al Yasmina don't charge an application fee. They will only ask for the 2000dhs Registration Fee once they offer you a space. You will then have 10 days to accept/pay. Last I heard (a year ago mind) Raha asked for a 500dhs application fee, not sure if that's the case this year.
yes as i said only when a place comes available. the law states that schools can charge only 500 registration.

remember raha is an ib school different to brit curriculum and yes if you go for north american you will be out by 1 year so may have to repeat if you change along the road. if you are looking at reception years that is one of the most difficult. if you want to get into yasmina or bsak you will need to be queing outside the school really early to get your application in, and make sure that you have your paperwork as complete as you can, it doesnt matter if you dont have a visa yet as you can get a letter saying that is being processed etc, but i know for bsak that it quickens up the process if you have it all correct. its very difficult years.
Thank you BB2 (and all replies). I think I have my head around it now. Was not aware of Brighton College so that is def one I will look at. Do you think applying for 4 schools is enough?
apply for them all if they do not require you to pay money, bsak doesnt ask for money until they give you a place, aldar there is a 2k fee i believe dont know about brighton as that is new. to be honest as its a new sch then that is prob your best bet, but they say they are selective, but then repton in dxb said that and its not really its bums on seats, if you are in off island then khalifa park/brighton college is not that bad to get too as all the roadworks up that end have been finished. but remember it doesnt necessarily follow the same as the schs in england, its just a name it has to adapt the curriculum to where it it. for eg there are many schs around the world here its repton in dxb and if you look on any threads you will see how differently it is compared to uk.
Hi BB2
Need your help!
I know you have answered questions on schools many many times and I have read the replies but my head is spinning!
I have a 4 year old attending nursery and we are applying at Raha and Yasmina (buckleys chance I know) for Sept intake and we need some back up choices. We were told of the Canadian school and also Pearl. Are there others you would suggest and can you give me your thoughts on Canadian and Pearl? We live in KCA so the closer the better but beggars cannot be choosers! :)
Thank you in advance
have you got a place at either school.
No, have not got a place at either of the schools......

The other option is The British International School at KCA. Only been open about two years but doing well. Worth viewing.
remember to get your application in the first day the school accepts them ( usually around 1 Feb) at 8am. First in first served.
Thank you! I did not know there was a British School in KCA and will google it now. :)
the british school in kca is al yasmina.

the british international school or bisad is not in khalifa city a, its actually next to ad university which is technically khalifa city c. zayed university is the one they are still building up behind the school off the kca/b junction in an area when they build it called khalfia city c or capital district the new centre of abu dhabi.

ok just come back from rugby so only just seen this so may be repeating as havent read any other replys. pearl is in town but only a primary school but come next sept they are building a new sec sch in town called al bateen. pearl and al muna and al yasmina are all aldar run schools. the guy in charge of the education is actually an ex bsak head been here long time. if i had to choose i would go for pearl as its brit curriculum. the canadian is smaller and from what i have heard is fairly good. if that was the only choice i had then it would be fine, and wait for another place to become available at your first choice school its also in kca where by pearl is in town, there is also bisad but heard the lower years much better than the older years and people have been moving them out to yasmina or bsak just recently. i know a lot of people going to al yasmina, again has an ex senior school bsak head and quite a few ex bsak teachers. if you are living in kca there are quite a few people commuting to bsak and there is a bus service too. but if you are in kca then its so much better to have to drive 5 mins up the road too. have you got a place at either school. aldar schools usually have applications end of jan and bsak usually a week or so later early feb but it changes you would need to check, but with all schools you need to get your applications in on day 1 to stand a chance, and it depends on what year you are looking at too.
Be careful with the Canadian, I had a friend start her little boy there, but they were really unhappy. Of course, there are probably parents who are really happy - try and talk to as many parents as you can. Personally, I can vouch for Al Yasmina, if you can get your place there. The Pearl is good, but it is in town, quite a drive in. BSAK would be closer, but not sure if they're still accepting applications.
Good luck!
Thank you! Had heard good reports about Al Yasmina too. The nursery teacher said to be careful of the Canadian school mainly because the curriculum is very different and could mean repeating a year later if he stayed in this system. Heard good reports about Pearl too but worried about the drive.....appreciate your feedback :)
BB2 will respond however - BISAD is [b'>not[/b'> at KCA - depending on where you are in KCA (Raha or 30th side) a good (or bad) half hour of a morning. I understand BiSad are accepting applications at any time (well that's what they said at their open day), but definitely now. Don't be disheartened with prospects for Raha and Yasmina. It's like the Wizard of Oz - "people come and go so quickly round here." If you would prefer to be closer - hedge your bets. If it doesn't sting your pocket with the application fees.Get a place at one and hold out for the one you want. But at the end of the day - they're all OK.Just different. Good Luck.
Thank you for your response. We are at the Raha side of KCA that is why Raha and Yasmina were our choices (and I heard good reports). We might be lucky :) But will definitely have a look at BISAD.
