You will 'manage' on 40k but to live without worries you need to be nearer 50k all in.
School can be anything up to 70k pa per child (ask for full fees, accept 50k per child) and accommodation is very expensive. Our monthly living costs are roughly the same as in the UK. Food is the same, electricity has been high because of the a/c but will start to go down now, children's activities are expensive, fuel is cheap but all cars are automatic so fuel economy isn't as good as we're used to.
Renting is expensive and prices are still rising. A friend recently looked at Al Reef, 3 bed villa was 155,000 and Al Reem 2 bed apartment was 150,000, alot of landlords want one cheque payment too. You have to buy all your white goods normally. You will need a car or 2, renting one will cost around 3000 a month.
Seen so many people complaining of very high utility bills, some have said their bills are 4000 a month.
I cant help with schools im afraid.
Good luck with your decision.
Hello Abu Dhabi Ladies, I know you have probably answered many similar questions in the past but I would really appreciate what, in your opinion, is a realistic monthly salary to live comfortably (not luxuriously) on in AD. My husband has been approached by a company but rather than offer him a package they have asked what his requirements are and his expected income. Medical comes as standard but we need to factor in accommodation, schooling for two and monthly living costs. We have done some research and reckon about AED 40,000 a month. Is this realistic, too optimistic or not optimistic enough?
Thanks in advance.
How old are the children? and will they share a room or need their own rooms ( Thinking about size of apartment/villa)
