Various schools and nurseries will run summer camps during the holidays. You might find a link on this website http://www.expatwoman.com/abudhabi/monthly_abudhabi_education.aspx edited by blokkop on 14/05/2013

Any idea if there are day camps/play schemes for older kids during the summer break. My children will join me in Abu Dhabi in July, but the new school term doesn't begin until September. Seeing this post just made me realise that leaves them potentially home alone for about a month and half. Ooopsies. Even though the oldest is 11, it'd be a tad cruel to drag them all the way to UAE then leave them home alone. Ta.

Thanks a lot Blokkop I had not heard of that nursery before and we are planning to live in Al Raha Gardens so I think it may not be too far. I will give them a call about registration. With kind regards Maria

Hi I'm arriving in June with a 2.5 yr old and an 8 month old and I start full time work (8am till 6pm) on 1st July. I assumed wrongly that nurseries were open all yr round like in the UK, however now I see term times start in October. I have childcare sorted for half of the day (2pm till 7 pm) but I need to find an alternative childcare option from 7am till 2pm for both children (or my 2.5 yr old at least) over the summer. I would be grateful if any other working mothers could give me some ideas for childcare options over the summer. I would prefer a nursery/summer school arrangement if possible but any suggestions would be gratefully received. Many thanks Maria
