Let me know if you find a way round-our 22 year old DS-also from Australia would love to come-he has already finished uni though. We don't have a car so 30 day visa runs are difficult and expensive. We had him over for a few months when he was 18-the only negative is they cost you a fortune when they aren't working!

Some people I know have enrolled their sons (18 +) for a semester or two as "transfer students" at American College of Dubai or Preston University and this solved the visa sponsorship issue for them.

There is a lady at my work who sponsors her daughter and she is more than 18 years old. I don't know if there is any difference between being able to sponsor boys or girls though. My father was able to sponsor me when I first arrived here and I was almost 21. Girls can be sponsored as dependents until they are married.

You could call the KHDA and ask them if they will approve his online study course and sign/stamp any documents required by immigration. Otherwise it is only allowed to sponsor daughters and wives once they turn 18.

I thought you couldn't do it as your son is too old, however I have also read somewhere recently that the laws had changed and that you could sponsor extended family on a one year visa, so it may be worth contacting the DRND to ask them if this is the case and how you can do it? Does your company have a PRO you could ask? No, my husbands company does not have a PRO. Don't mean to be thick, what does DRND stand for, can't seem to work it out. sorry. Thanks for the info http://www.dnrd.gov.ae/DNRD Can't seem to find the information online relating to son's though, only to parents, or parents in-law. Ozzies don't have a max number of visit visas, but the visa run would have to be every 30 days.

I don't believe so unless you can produce a letter from a university stating he is a full time student. Don't even get me started on this. He will be a full time online uni student. but as you say maybe to hard to do. Does anyone know how often then we need to do the visa runs and is there a limit on them? TIA

I think you stop being allowed to sponsor boys from the age of 18, after that they have to get student sponsorship - studying at a university here - or do the visa runs. <em>edited by Chocs01 on 07/03/2011</em>
