Great to see an Irish thread! Are there any Paddy's Day celebrations tomorrow (day time) that kids can go along to?

Good plan! Lol! Yeah it's tough at the start until you meet people and that's not always easy to do. But do check out the FB page I suggested , I've met a lovely bunch of ladies through that. They have regular 'events' ;) and I attend when I can. Always great fun and a brilliant way to meet people. edited by mimi on 15/03/2011

OMG I detested Irish dancing too. Luckily my parents soon realised I had zero coordination so I was spared further torture. I can't recommend anywhere personally but I've just googled and there seems to be a few places you could try ; http://www.dubaicityguide.com/site/entertainment/dance-class.asp http://irishsocietydubai.com/news/the-arts/irish-dancing-lessons/ I'm not familiar with any Irish clubs either and haven't met any fellow Paddies so far I'm afraid but always willing to! There is a group on FB called Irish in Dubai but it's not updated very often. Not exclusively Irish but ExpatGetTogethersInDubai on FB is also a good one ;-) , and one I use myself. edited by mimi on 15/03/2011

I'm from the beautiful county of Meath ;) . I'm guessing you're from Cork! We had a few run ins with ye at Croker a few years back(or more years than I care to remember). Good times! CurleyOB is right, all nationalities in Paddy's day hats and t-shirts drowning the shamrock, great craic! Enjoy :)

Irish Ball was on last weekend for some reason, normally on weekend of Paddys but not this year. Irish Village a good spot to go with the kiddies during the day alright and great craic at night for us adults. I was there two years ago for the night and the amount of various nationalities going around with Irish TShirts etc was unreal. I know some friends going to Meydan to see Sharon Corr. Enjoy whatever you decide to do, Curly

Hi Corkshelly, conas a ta tu? Sorry, but I've just seen this now and wanted to respond. Last Paddy's Day we took our then almost 18mth old toddler to the Irish Village for the afternoon and had a great time. We went right down the back where the buffet is served and we had loads of space for him to play, we even brought his Winne the Pooh car with us and some toys and he had a blast. Lots of other kids there too and there's a really great atmosphere. We left between 6 and 7pm and where we were was still roomy but around the stage and in front of the bar was thronged. We would go again this year but we are having some friends over instead. HTH agus Beannachtai na Feile Padraig duit! :)
