My mum, who is Canadian, has been here for 6 months and would like to stay for another but she can't extend her travel insurance policy! She has a policy with Assured Assistance through the Royal Bank (in case that means anything to anyone) and her travel agent says that she (the travel agent) contacted RBC who said that because my mum is 75 she can only get coverage for 183 days and so would have to buy the extra month from a local provider here in the UAE.
I'm very surprised about the 183 day limit but don't particularly care if she can get decent health insurance here without it costing an arm and a leg.
Thanks in advance for any info.

Try Daman Insurance. I think they have a basic policy. HTH. Just googled. Look at the visitor plan http://www.damanhealth.ae/eDamanApp/en/Products/ProductsMain/products.html?version=R110.2.2 edited by Blue Cow on 12/04/2011
