I would prefer to put them in my hand luggage incase they smash

I have transported candles many times with no issues, wrapped in bubble wrap and safely secured in hand luggage to counteract for any room for movement. Have never been asked to open it and show, etc... BUT just to be on the safe side as you never know with airport security, best to put them in your checked-in luggage (if you'll have one).

I've hand carried candles on Emirates. They did flag up at the security scanner but once they had checked my bag they were fine. It was on a London/DXB route. Have not flown out of Dubai with them. FFx
