viewed a property today in Jumeriah beach and the guy tells me he's found a monkey ...The little thing was very healthy and being really well fed and watered .. they have put ads up to see if anyone responds but you never know... someone might be looking for it .... its like a spider monkey or similar ... pale fur and a brown face and sooooo cute and tame ....

the guys are really looking after it but they are due to move soon and they will probably release it if no one comes for it ..they have it in a huge mesh cage so its in good hands ...

ooh ... and i know the family very well .. they are locals and I know its not theirs .. they found it eating the dogs food in the cage floor ..

Thank you nath for your post. It's interesting and very encouraging ! (Well, one day, the law will be put in place....I am optimist today). I really hope for a happy ending that that this little one will enjoy a peaceful life amongst other creatures like him. I know it's not guaranteed as the adaptation isn't always successful (from articles I've read years ago..), but I'm sure the wildlife century team will take good care of him and will do the necessary to ensure this little monkey has a nice life.

the " Veterinarian of the Breeding Centre for Endangered Arabian Wildlife- Sharjah" wrote another article in the Wildlife Middle East magazine to discourage people from having primates as pets. This is the link below. very interesting : http://www.wmenews.com/newsletters/File/Volume-3/Issue-1/WME_V3I1_E_P4.pdf but of course... illegal monkey are still arriving in UAE : http://gulfnews.com/news/gulf/uae/environment/influx-of-baboons-entering-uae-illegally-1.774088

I know that a few houses down they have a monkey. I will ask them if they have lost theirs (I might not be able to hide the disgusted look on my face mind you).

Sounds like it's been abandoned, sadly. You should contact a vet or Dubai Zoo so it can be fostered properly or put down. Or contact DARC, or Posh Paws. They're animal rescue centers who may have space for a monkey.... FYI, I'd posted this wayyyy down the bottom and it got covered by all the grammer/grammar spelling talk!!!!

It's remarkable how many people write 'loose' rather than the correct 'lose' I wasn't asking for someone to spell check my grammar but thankyou for showing me up ! Oh the Mods are correcting spelling now - they WILL be busy and let's not mention the grammar ! :\: Gulp. Even my patois needs alteration. I ought to have said: "It would appear that the EW administrators have utilised Draino in order to disinfect this information board betwixt the hours of 11pm last night at 9am today." Or something. ;) PS. Bowbells: grammAR, petal. And you can't 'spell check' it anyway. Oh, and it's 'me up' not 'be up'. :D

What about that place that has the children out to see all the animals? They were asking for volunteers last week? Maybe they would take?

It's remarkable how many people write 'loose' rather than the correct 'lose' I agree with you, but I don't see that relevant here.

I live in jumeria 1 and there have been a few escaped monkeys during the years. The monkey probably got out of the horrible Dubai Zoo.
