my doc also gave it to me when i found out i was pregnant. I had no history of previous miscarriage or any complication. She just said it will be good. I took it home, then researched it and found out it was banned in the US. It was a very hard descision but I decided not to take it. Why should you take a medicine if there is NOTHING wrong?! I had an easy and completly hassle free pregancy and have a happy and healthy toddler now.Maybe you want to get a second opinion? Maybe even from your doc back home (if you are an expat).

i dont want to throw a spanner in the works, but surely your doctor wouldnt prescribe something if it wasnt safe? i trust my doctor completely and was on duphaston a couple of times ... i'm still alive & kicking ;) edited by dikane on 13/02/2011

My Gynae in Qatar prescribed it for me from 6 weeks until I was 14 weeks as I had previously had a miscarriage, I consulted my doctor in the UK who advised to stop taking it as their was no known evidence that it would prevent another miscarriage and also no evidence that it does increase your hormone levels. I also reckon its the reason i suffered so badly from morning sickness as when i stopped taking it the sickness eased off and i felt so much better !
