Thank you arohadxb & Blueskies,

Tomorrow I'll be visiting Wellington school.
Today I visited the Green Community and I also was shown around the Greenfield Community School. I really liked what I saw - but it might be a little far awe from Bur Dubai - that's where my husband will work.

Can any of you recommend a different family-oriented area to live with a good International school? I'm a bit lost where to continue my journey living and school wise, since there seem to be so many options!

Thanks again,
bixi

Was denkst Du?

Yes I agree. Jumeirah would be a good option. I'll go there tomorrow to look at the area and some villas for rent. I have to see how far it would be to Wellington International School. Thanks AdviceSeeker & starsouthern!

If you want to live near the Bur Dubai area than GEMS Wellington Primary School is close by and a good school. The Head there is a lovely Kiwi bloke and there are a few Kiwi families including us. My son is 7 years old and started there when he was in FS1 so 3.5years old. We live in the Springs and it takes us 30mins each morning to get to school. I would agree. and I would suggest looking to live in Jumeirah/Umm Suqiem if your husband is working in Bur Dubai. They're a lovely area to live in and near by wellington Primary. Good Luck

Thank you arohadxb & Freckles 1, Your information is very helpful and appreciated. Comming back to The Greenfield Community School - a big pus would be that my Son Niko could pick up on German language. But there might be some other schools, where he could learn German as well. Anyway ....... Have a good night all, Bixi

hi Bixi, If you want a villa in a family style community then I would suggest the springs, Lakes, Meadows or the Ranches. ar Aroha says, your hubby can drive the commute to work (as most of our husbands do) but you will need to find a school fairly close to where you live as the school run can be quite a task with the traffic. We live in the springs and my daughter goes to Star in Umm Sequim. It takes me about 30 mins in the morning but about 12 mins in the afternoon! think star has closed their wait list though frecks? thought they had plenty of places for the older year groups? 8 yrs old..would that be yr 3???? could well be mistaken!! But child is 6.5 and that would be going into yr 2? I can never get this straight... sorry bixi...I don't drive either, and am happy with our schools bus service. Like freckles, we are in springs. Star International school may well be worth a look...pretty sure that the foundation years wait list is closed and possibly the younger yr groups as well...but all worth a call anyway while you are here to have a look.

Thanks arohadxb, I didn't see Freckles 1 message - it must have overlapped with my previous replay. Freckles 1, Thank you for your thoughts - I will look into the areas you've suggested. The issue is, that I do NOT drive. We'd relay on school bus service - which shouldn't be a problem. Ideally there is a great school with a home, family-oriented community next. I'm sure we'll find the right place at the right time. Can you tell that I'm an optimist?

Good to hear from you again, arohabxb, Maybe Green Community with Greenfield School will be our obvious choice. My husband doesn't mind the commute too much if quality of life is great beside work. We have to pay for school and housing ourselves - not covered by work. But that's Ok, since that's how its written in the contract. I'm a photographer, so I'm flexible with work.

hmmm, bur dubai always strikes me as apartment living...maybe mirdif? Are you going to be in company provided accomodation? Greenfields school is lovely, and the green community is really nice as well. Can hubby not just drive to bur dubai for his work? Bets thing is to pickk school pick a place to live and work round that as you are the one thats going to be doing the school run etc day in and out.
