I am with Blue Cow. Having stayed at both sides if the island I think East is best. It certainly is cheaper. You will pay considerably more in Patong for a drink or dinner than you would at the opposite side of the island. The Eastern side is more authentic and this is where the elephants, giant buddha, boatcruises etc are too.

I cannot comment on the actual hotel as we have only driven past it. But as it is in Patong (not my cup of tea) and you have to cross the busy main road to get to the beach - which is not that flash, I personally would not choose any hotel in the Patong area. Each to their own though!

Went to Phuket in Jan this year, and although we stayed at The Millenium, we did go to Holiday Inn for a nosey and there were lots of kiddies there seemingly having a great time! Location is VERY central....On the beach road. HTH

I stayed in the Hilton in November a couple of years ago with my mum and DS. The kids club was open and there was a playground outside, I think there was also a games room, pool table etc we didn't use it as DS was only 7 months. We booked an executive room and the service was excellent , kids are allowed in the lounge and it was open all day for snacks, sushi etc. sorry I have just reread the title - and you are asking about the Holiday Inn, Phuket not Holiday in Phuket edited by glasgo2010 on 10/03/2011:\: - sorry! edited by glasgo2010 on 10/03/2011

I went around 12 years ago and it was a wonderful hotel back then although it is in the middle of the resort and quite a lively area. The Sydney Swans (AFL team) were staying there too which as a 21 year old was an added bonus!! I have been looking for a holiday with my 5 and 7 year old and for us (as I remember it) it will be great. Although just a bit worried about the weather in November!!
