I suggest something totally different since the space is visible from the kitchen and entertaining areas too. Possible colours: combination of cappuccino/coffeecolours + aqua blue for walls and bring in orange and white into the decorations. These are funky, cool, mature and kiddies like all rolled in one. It also suits both the desert and the sea. See this as an example for the colour, not the decor (random blog) http://cappuccinocottage.blogspot.com/2010/09/blue-and-brown-bonanza.html I would then add a funky clock from Alessi (see Tavola) and some comix/cartoon prints. Think retro chic. Tin-tin maybe. You could even get hold of the Freeze Character prints. You could also print some pop-art pics at the canvas stalls in the malla and include family pics. Shelly..did u ever think of painting the room pink/purple with white detailing..(?) ..you can adorn the walls with just about anything..frame some art work that DD has done.. cloth line with all her art works pegged, i saw this real cool idea where they handpainted big foam alphabets and hung them up.(a day for each letter). and a part (a lil over their height)of the wall painted with chalkboard paint so kids wont be grounded for doodling on the wall :o) Not sure if you get big bold pink/purple/lilac round decals..u can cut out patterns and stick 'em up. or get a mural artist to draw a tree with branches with famed pic of ur DD's milestones, 3D butterflies, cut out flowers, few birds, a bird house made outta milk carton..options with that are endless... Do you have a theme in mind? they say when it comes to decorating , pick a theme /color /pattern that sorta grows with the kids..else its gonna be a bit expensive. Does ur baby girl like something in particular ? I've seen some real flashy colors in playrooms (but tastefully done) just coz the kids love the oranges and blues and red..after all its their room :o) happy decorating..and do post a pic when its done.

Great ideas!! I love the idea of the wall art stickers/decals but DH won't go for that as I have got heaps of them for DD's bedroom already and he said my obsession with wall stickers is now OTT. Suze63, are you able to email me some pics of what they look like? My email is shellly dot shellly @ hotmail dot com (triple L's in shellly). Kells, they sounds awesome! I bought these large stickers from Dragon mart... there were butterflies, flowers, fishes, and many other themes if u like. Ikea also has them but much more grown up. Plus I got a nice colorful ABC mat interlock thing from babyshop for the floor. DS also has a table with 2 chairs from ikea.

I may have just the thing for you! We've just moved from London and I realised that the movers packed loads of stuff that we don't actually need (due to us not having a proper clear out...I am not a domestic goodess). Anyway, we have three pictures which I bought in a gallery in Kings Road in London, that have been professionally framed (one is of Noah's Ark, one is a giraffe with a bee sitting on it's nose (very cute) and a third one). If you are interested, let me know as I was wondering what to do with them (DD is 8 now so definitely not playroom age). Let me [email protected]

Decorating our baby's playroom. Its a room that is next to the kitchen (open plan) so not closed off and its completely visible from our outdoor entertaining area. I need ideas for pictures/prints to hang on the wall. We don't want anything baby-ish but we want it to be fun and probably bright colours... I think. What would you hang on the wall? Thanks!
