Izzy99 Its on the top floor of GL, I think its level 2. The pork section is hidden at the back but you have to walk past all sort of gourmet delights to get there... a cheese room, sushi, caviar, falafel, salad bar, italian deli, juice bar, butcher, fish monger, arabic grill..... etc. I am obsessed with this place, and you can get the most amazing french yoghurts in their grocery area. Thanks - not bothered about the pork section thou :)

I would think that the Galleries Lafayette Gourmet would be the place to look, their pork section is remarkable! Its like a pork wonderland there. I just returned from there with a whole basket of wonderful things to try. Their cheese section is very impressive too. :) Which level is this on? I went into the bakery section on the lowest level and they had no clue what i was talking about...

You can buy Longanisa sausage at Spinneys. Its the filipino version of it and the exact same thing. Oh wow. Thanks for the tip. I didn't see it in Spinney's Town Centre when I looked yesterday, but will go back, look more closely [or try another Spinney's'>. Cheers! PS. Izzy ... not sure I can stretch to sausage making, but I may well do! :D

Yup -- tried Carluccio's the day after they opened [whenever that was!'> because that's where I used to source it when I lived in London. They don't sell any ham/pork products, sadly. The problem with this sort of sausage is that it's not like salami or chorizo; it's fresh like, um, 'normal' sausages, so of course, there's going to be a problem with use-by dates. I know I can substitute with another type of banger, but I'd love to use the real thing for this favourite recipe of mine. Cheers anyway, Izzy. :) How about making your own? I hear that you are pretty useful in the kitchen :)

Must have been typing at the same time, gleekfamily! Thanks so much for the offer, but loukaniko [I have had that in Australia; had a Greek boyf many moons ago!'> has orange zest and other flavours in it; luganica is merely sweet without any spices, fennel, bread or other seasoning. Back to the drawing board. :) . edited by WaxMuch on 16/03/2011

Not sure but is it similar to/same as loukaniko? That's a Greek sausage. If so, I'll be on the look out for you because DH loves it. He's going to Cyprus at the end of the month, not sure if he can bring back some (is it smoked? I don't eat it so don't really know), but if he can I'll ask him to.

Have you tried carluccio's? (am not a pork eater so probably not the best person to offer advice)

I'm after a sweet Italian sausage [normally comes in a 'coil' or rolled'> which is light on bread filler, and is sweet and delicious. I've tried Prego's meat counter, Spinneys and Choitrams ... no luck. If anyone has seen this around and about, I would love to know. There's a sensational penne dish I wish to create, for the first time since I lived in London, that really needs this bit of produce. Cheers. x
