Hi,

Its my Husbands birthday end of feb, i would like to do something special and was thinking maybe spending the day at a posh hotel (Burj al arab if they do it?) and then a nice meal at night?

We live in Ranches so somewhere within distance?

Could anyone else recommend anything?

How about a day pass at Bab Al Shams and then a lovely evening meal and cocktails on the rooftop bar - book safer driver to bring you home.

A couple of months ago we went to stay at the Fairmont in Abu Dhabi - not quite within short distance of the Ranches I know but they have great deals on most of the time, I think the deal we had was 1200 dirhams for early check in on Fri, late check out on Sat and a 3 course meal at Frankies (not including alcohol). It is a lovely hotel and was so relaxing - water in ice buckets next to your sunbeds, big fluffy bathrobes, big deep bath, comfiest bed I have ever slept in! I know it isn't a posh hotel in the same sense as the Burj Al Arab but it was a really fantastic weekend, we will definitely be going again. Also we told them it was our anniversary and we got a room upgrade (one with a lovely view over the Grand Mosque rather than the car park!) and a really delicious chocolate cake left in the room so if you did go then make sure you mention your husband's birthday. They do other package deals too including one with their brunch which is supposed to be great - link below..... http://www.fairmont.com/babalbahr/HotelPackages/
