We have pajero, I really like it. Our other car is a volvo, and I actually find the Pajero more comfy and I feel safer because it is higher off the ground and bigger. Completely endorse the sentiments of the posters below around it not being the best acceleration, but it isn't that much of an issue.
If you do have young children/babies, a couple of other considerations may be: They do not have isofix's in them, well, they didn't last year when I asked, and they had no idea if this would change in the near future. The isofix is to firmly attach your child's carseat to the car - it is increases the carseats effectiveness in the event of an accident. Having said that the pajero is able to fit does fit a 2nd stage rear facing carseat which a lot of other cars/4wd's cannot.
HTH
lol - mine's a 3 litre V6 but i haven't noticed much "oomph" to be honest... but i can't fault it otherwise. Haven't noticed the height of the back seat but i like the way you still get some 'boot' space behind it..
Rented a Pajero when we first got here, then bought one. Get V6 model (or higher if they do them) - you do really need that extra oomph when out-manoeuvring lunatics on the highways! Great workhorse car, and ignore anyone who sniffs at them - they are only miffed that they paid 100,000 dhs more for same space and capabilities!
I looked at the LWB Pajero when I changed my car a couple of years ago. The only thing that put me off was that the bench seat in the third row has a really low back so there's no support if you brake suddely or get hit from behind. My 7 year old (who is tall, admittedly) was in a friend's and said the seat only came up to the bottom of her shoulder blades.
Another mother with a pajero here. Very comfortable family car. Plenty of room for two boys and all their toys. It's not quite as nice as DH's Prado and the air conditioner isn't as strong, but otherwise I'm quite happy with it.
Don't have the LWB but have the Io....never had any problems...service and maintainance is cheap....love it if they still made it would buy another one...:)
Don't know about LWB lol but i drive a Pajero and i love it !! Spacious inside, reliable. Drinks petrol like a fish but at the price here who cares lol My only complaint is that it's slow to accelerate but when i moan to hubby he waffles on about kick-back due to it being automatic.. at which point i glaze over lol
