My visa is expiring can I hire maid?

We have to sponsor a new maid because ours is leaving to go home. Our visas expire in May and I'm going to need to sponsor a new maid in April. Can we do that if we only have 1 month left on our visas?

My husband checked with immigration so I thought I'd put their reply on here so others know. You can sponsor a maid with less than 3 months on your visa so long as you get a letter from your emplyer stating that your visa will be renewed on expiry.

I don't think you can. You need to have at least 3 months validity on the visa to sponsor someone. But, you can renew your visa in April before it expires and then do the sponsoring. Remember that residencies now are valid for 2 years and not 3 as they used to be
