Mum and I had a walk along the marina and had a cup of coffee - we were there one hour and 7 minutes and got charged 70aed for parking there. I'm still in shock. If I had used the valet parking I could have stayed for the whole day for 50aed, but didn't know this.

It has certainly put me off going to the Marina if that is what it is going to cost me every time. How can anyone afford to park and shop at Spinney's?

Is it any spend from Spinneys or a minimum amount? Thanks for this tip - I was suckered for paying last time too! :(

Had a really bad experience there a couple of weeks ago. Like an complete bimbo, I put my validated ticket down on the restaurant table as I collected my stuff up and the wind blew it away!! DH and I had come in 2 cars as we met each other there, and he wasn't stupid enough to lose his ticket. So after a 250dhs meal we were told I'd have to pay 250dhs for the lost ticket. I know it was my fault for losing the ticket but really thought that they would let it go out of good will...after all we still had the other ticket. It was about 11:30pm at night but they wouldn't budge, manager was called down and he wouldn't budge either. Managed to get through without paying the hefty fine in the end..guess how...

Yes we got caught out - had lunch in Dome and then found they couldn't validate the parking. So just bought etisalat top up from spinneys. b'>[/b'>First half hour free and after that need to get receipt stamped from any of the restaurants ( only the Marina walk ones) or spinneys to park free. Just wanted to reiterate this because we parked at Marina Walk and wandered a bit too far down away from the official 'Marina Walk' area (but still a busy part) and the restaurant was not able to stamp our ticket - very annoyed as hadn't realised that there was a specific area. We just went to Spinneys and bought a load of meat to stick in the freezer (minimum spend for getting the ticket stamped) so we weren't wasting money and got them to stamp the ticket for us. ;);)

I often park in Marina Mall and walk. It is nice along the water and takes maybe 15 min.

Thanks for that info - I have paid for parking everytime I have been there (though not for a while) and no-one has ever advised me of that. I moaned to the guy on the gatehouse, but he didn't tell me that, grrrrrrrrrrrrr

jilip, you have to take your ticket with you and get it stamped by whoever or where ever your going for coffee. then its free. failing that, you can park up by the trident apartment buildings, free there. I forgot my ticket once, put gum in it and threw in the bin, they charged me 100dhs , and i was literally parked for 5 mins!
