In Abu Dhabi you can ask to have your fines 'reduced' - this usually means a 50% reduction! Worth asking.... do i have to drive to Abu Dhabi or Al Ain to request this? Im still rather bitter about it tbh, if I knew what road it was on and how fast I was going perhaps I could just let it go but just to say I have 2 speeding fines in Abu Dhabi really doesnt help. (I assume that Al Ain falls under Abu Dhabi in some way hence the reason why it says Abu Dhabi on the fines) Al Ain is in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi.... (we have an extra special dose of blonde in your coffee this morning?) ;)

If you are driving to Al Ain watch your speed. I got 2 speeding tickets within 10 minutes of eachother in Al Ain. Its doesnt say where though as they fine just says Abu Dhabi. There are a lot of roadworks going in and i was sure I stuck to the speed limits all the way, it seems I didnt though. 1200AED in fines in one day.... expensive day out to the zoo!

The Rotana is good, and a 10-minute drive to the zoo. The Hilton and Intercontinental (now Danat Hotel) are also fine - 15 minute drive to the zoo. The Hilton has a great slide for kids; Danat has a better pool for 'lane swimming' as well as a pool for babies and one for kids. Both have play areas for children as well. The Mercure is lovely, but it's quite a distance from the rest of Al Ain....If you're here for the weekend it's worth visiting the Jahli Fort and Sheikh Zayed's former palace, for example. The zoo has lovely grounds for picnics and a play area for children as well as a train.... Enjoy!

The Mercure in Jebel Hafeet is good. Is the night zoo open during the winter months, because the Wildlife park website says it's open during summer-June-Sep

Not a whole lot of accommodation options in Al Ain. We stayed at Hilton, it was decent. Haven't been to the night safari, so can't comment on that. Have a great time!
