So I have been in the UK since the beginning of August and have been able to get my weekly salt beef fix from a variety of places including Brass Rail in Selfridges, B&K Salt Beef Bar and Brick Lane Beigel Bakery (yes I miss salt beef a lot!).

Now before I return home to Dubai I ask you, where in Dubai can you get real salt beef on rye?!!! You know the salt beef that comes in big thick tender slices and melts in your mouth!

Please don't make me go another year without it!

I had an intense craving for this last year and could not find it anywhere. However, I found a recipe online and found that Prime Gourmet on SZR sold me the right cut of beef. I made it myself...super easy and totally satisfied the craving. tons of recipes online and a how to video on youtube that helped with some tips. HTH Thanks for that, I have a recipe (my gran used to make it) but have just never been able to find the right cut of beef in Dubai. Now perhaps I could be the first to open a Salt Beef Bar?! plz do!!! i'll be there on day one! prime gourment sold me a huge slab of brisket. I did have to ask them to cut the fat back to reduce my work at home but the meat quality was good. waiting for it to cure for 10 days in the fridge was the hardest part. esp when it was all eaten the same day! enjoy! I'd love an old family recipe if you care to share!

There was a thread on this a little while ago and I think the conclusion was that there aren't any here. My DH is an Essex boy and is a big fan (I can;t stand it although I am partial to a chopped herring bagel from Brick Lane and I like the potato latkes!).
