http://www.bettycrocker.com/recipes/slow-cooker-lasagna/23546794-7262-47be-9ca4-e12c900399a1 this is nearly the same as my recipe (sorry, it is in the kitchen....) and mine cooks in about 3 hours. I also buy the wiggly lasagne sheets for a better effect! It comes out nice though, really. There are loads of versions online, just try to go with a minimalist one, there is no need for hard work.

Mine is ancient and the brand name has worn away but works a treat twice a week! My fave recipes are Butter Chicken curry and Lasagne. Sometimes I just stick anything leftover in the fridge in there with some stock and barley and hey! dinner is ready in 6 hours!

http://crockpot365.blogspot.com/ Have you seen this blog? The woman cooked in her Crock Pot everyday for one year and blogged about it giving pictures and recipes. She's done everything from drinks to desserts and has the recipes for all of it.

the Kenwood (large) slow cooker is 199 in Spinneys, a smaller one - I think morphy richards - is 169.

I bought my Kenwood slow cooker at Spinneys Al Wasl Rd. To be honest, I have barely used it. My dad gave me a pressure cooker for christmas and it is the BEST thing ever! I love it!! Everything is cooked in hardly any time at all and tastes amazing - tender and like its been cooking all day. I wish I had one of these years ago and it has inspired me to enjoy cooking again. Stews etc are done in 30 -45 min.

They are near impossible to find in Qatar either, so I ordered one from Amazon. In the end the shipping probably made up for whatever markup I would have paid if I'd manage to find one here. Trying to use it more these days! The allrecipes.com website has a great collection of slow cooker recipes btw... you know i was almost at the point of doing that too until the replies... i called my mum and she nearly fell off her chair when i told her what i was going to pay for it here...she got hers in Tesco for 15 quid! wish i had had more room at xmas to bring one back as it was excellent!!!

I purchased mine (Kenwood) in Spinneys. Can I ask how much please Of course......it was about a year ago, really can't exactly remember but I have around 180dhs, 200 or 220dhs in my head.....Does that sound right? I'm sure I would't have paid any more for it anyway. It was in Spinneys Town Centre.

Thanks for the replies ladies... well i am still without cooker...i tried Carrefour and i went into Union Coop at Mizhar..he printed the picture of the Kenwood one, but he said they didnt have one on thier system anywhere in Dubai! (that was sharaf DG). i am assuming all UC have a franchise with Sharaf so i wont try the other near Safa. I will try times square as i am nipping there for lunch....didnt think to try Waitrose, but will do later if i have a fruitless trip at lunch! or hyperpanda on the way home...........and if that fails....Spinneys. I am based in Mirdif and didnt fancy a hunt all the way to Geant unless i have exhausted they other options... cant wait to start eating some heathy home cooked food that during the week i am just not inclined to prepare after a long day at work!! thanks all! <em>edited by Blueskies on 06/02/2011</em>

I love slow cooking but the smell drives me nuts. At first you think mmmmm that smells yum but it just lingers and lingers...and seems to get into every room. Tried covering the top with foil on top of the lid but didn't make any difference. It puts me off using it. Do you all find this? Not at all. For me, it is one of the best things about it... mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm:) My family and I also love walking in the house after the food has cooked throughout the day to the wonderful smells!!!!

The auto function starts the cooking at a high heat then after a set period it goes to the low heat to prevent food drying out or becoming tough. The Home Centre also stock a all purpose cooker which has a slow cooker function - I think it costs about 450 - I don;t have one, but it looked pretty good.

I bought a 6 quart slow cooker at HyperPanda and LOVE it. It's got low, high and auto (which I use the most) and have yet to ruin any dish I've made in it!!! Hi! Could you explain to me what the auto function does?

Lakeland have one called the Remoska, which is like an upside down slow cooker!! Haven't got one myself, but it's one of their best selling items and has rave reviews. (I'm always going on about Lakeland stuff on here - I don't work for them - honest - just a huge fan!)

Not sure if you want a big one or the smaller one. Big ones seem to be readily available but a short time ago I found a smaller one in Geant. Can't remember exactly how much it was but I hink it was somewhere between 200 and 300. It was either a Kenwood or Morphy Richards.

Saw a Kenmore silver one at Waitrose in MOE and the Marina Mall. I think for about 250 but can't remember exactly.
