Hi

Wonder if you can help.

Feeling very upset as just discovered that my maid has been stealing from me. We want to send her home today. Is there any paperwork we need to do before we get to the airport? She is under our sponsorship. Also the airlines seem to be fully booked. Anyone have any ideas of who we can try?

Sorry if I have posted under the wrong section but we need a really quick answer.

Thank you

EJJ

What did she steal and how did you find out?

Thanks very much for the advice. She has now gone. I watched her pack. Apparently it was very straightforward at the airport. Feeling very sad that it ended this way and the kids are asking questions. Oh well you live and learn although not sure I could have done anything differently.

Yes, do it at the airport. Make sure you delete your phone numbers from her mobile and PACK HER BAGS YOURSELF. DO NOT let her back into her room after you have packed (they often hide stolen items in mattresses etc)

You can cancel her visa at the airport. Go early, just to be sure you get it done. When I did it, a few years ago, andi know someone who did it the same way a few months ago, you do it just by immigration in terminal 1. You actually have to go through the bit where they check your passport and boarding pass, it is between there and the immigration queues. So you have to tell them you are taking her to cancel her visa for them to let you through with her. Take all your paperwork and passport and take your husband if she under his sponsorship. Not sure about banning cos the rules have changed now, but at the time they asked me if I wanted to ban her. Took about ten to fifteen mins and was painless, cos they seem to have no problems with cancelling visas and ask no questions.

Thanks very much for your replies. I have taken the items back so no proof and I don't to get into a fighting match with the police involved. Just want to put a ban on her and get her home. She also has a son at home and despite everything she has done - including the boyfriend (she has a husband in the philipines) I have discovered, I don't want him to suffer. Does anyone know if I can just get to immigration at the airport and do everything from there? Have found a flight tonight with Qatar airways.

the police will have a holding cell. they can also contact her embassy so that she will be accounted for until a flight is available. Sorry for your trouble.
