Not grouchy at all Izzy, just responding to the mind blowing topics with mind blowing answers. After all these stimulating topics asking who uses the Dryer, Andrex, thongs or the non stop commentary on the most boring sport in the world; Cricket!!! I actually have to pinch myself every so often to make sure i'm in a real world of some warped shallow form. lol cricket IS the most boring sport in the world!!! I agree! Managed to restrain myself from making a comment earlier when it was explained to me that there was going to be a lot of cricket on in the next few weeks! Yes, you know who you are! :-P LOL... you mean me? :-P

Erme, thank you for the explanation, CT, my thinking was that as SW doesn't like cricket, she needn't use that particular metaphor, if such is what she really needs to describe her position.. There's "between a rock and a hard place", or any of these as the first google result for "sticky wicket synonyms": "bind, clutch, complication, crunch, embarrassing position, embarrassment, fine how-do-you-do, **** to pay, hobble, hot water, how-do-you-do, imbroglio, jam, mess, mix, morass, parlous straits, pass, pickle, pinch, plight, predicament, pretty pass, pretty pickle, pretty predicament, quagmire, quicksand, scrape, slough, spot, squeeze, stew, strait, straits, swamp, tight spot, tight squeeze, tightrope, tricky spot, unholy mess" Actually, none of those sound like the SW we know and love ;) edited by simpleasabc on 06/03/2011

I'm at a loss to understand why you call yourself "Sticky Wicket", then, SW, if you're not a cricket fan? Sticky wicket is a metaphor used to describe a difficult circumstance. It originated as a cricket term but it became a common way of describing being caught in a challenging position.

I'm at a loss to understand why you call yourself "Sticky Wicket", then, SW, if you're not a cricket fan? I'm presuming you're a reincarnation of another user-name here but I've no idea which one and couldn't care less about how, from what and how many times, you or anyone else have changed names on this site. Mind you, guessing Who Was Who seems to be the most fun the EW site has to offer at present..

the non stop commentary on the most boring sport in the world; Cricket!!! Cricket is not boring - you should have watched the nail bitingly close match today - where England beat the Saffers - it was fantastically exciting; or the match where Ireland beat England... Fantastic stuff. Nail biting? Isn't it about time you found a job yet Izzy? Am trying - got anything? leads? anything? I'm thinking cricket commentary for you at the moment, at least you would enjoy that, just need to find an employer now. trouble is you'd need to have a lot of balls... Boom; Boom - :D
