to be fair, nothing like as bad as they used to be, but i do wonder if it was worth going through all that pain for not a huge gain! luckily i am usually v healthy and very rarely ill so it could be much worse. they took my adenoids too - not sure why?!

i had mine out when i was about 11 - it was the era when they whipped them out all the time. i do remember it being excruciatingly painful - and the bad news is, i'm afraid i still get sore throats.....

Hi, I had my tonsils removed as an adult, just last year actually, and it's the best thing I've done. I no longer get persistent coughs or bouts of tonsillitis and I feel like a free woman! It really did hurt for a week or so after though but well worth it :)

I can recommend Dr Baghat as an ENT...lil miss didnt have her tonsils out with but he did her grommits. Ph: 04 349 9100. he operates out of american or belhoul. (we went with belhoul, mainly because we could get in sooner, but it was half the price as well. Always a bonus, and it was a very good experience) I 2nd Dr Baghat, he was excellent and removed my son's tonsils and adenoids. Did not even stay that night in hospital, went home late and next day he was fine and eating more than he should have been !! Also performed at Belhoul which was fine. Good luck, he has a fab reputation ;)

is it true that if you have your tonsils taken out, then you stop getting them small yellow hard balls in the back of your throat? True. I had mine removed when I was 21. Extremely painful recovery but I had no choice due to repeated tonsillitus.
